Research, Development and
Design
Toowoomba Metal Technologies
concurrently operates two teams of engineers. Consisting
of a Research and Development Team and a Manufacturing
Engineering Team.
Research and Development Team
To ensure that continual improvements
in current products, materials, processes and product
ranges, and to investigate emerging products and manufacturing
processes we have a team of in-house engineers committed
to research and development.
Technology is extensively
used by our engineers during both the research and design
stages. Software includes:
- Solidworks (3D Modeling
System)
Toowoomba Metal Technologies has 9 seats using this
software, making us the largest user in Australia
at present.
- MSC/PATRAN (Finite
Element Stress & Thermal Analysis)
Used at the design phase to analysis any stress areas
and determine a solution in the design of a product
prior to casting
- MagmaSoft (Solidification
and Flow Simulation of Metal - First foundry Australia
to use MagnaIron)
- Autocad
This software simulates the
pouring and solidification of molten metals. It helps
us reduce the number of trials needed for product development
as well as decreasing the number of metal related defects.
This software is operated by an experienced engineer
from the Australian CSIRO, bring our skills in this
latest technology on par with some of the top foundries
in the world. We are the first foundry in Australia
to use this software.
Manufacturing Engineering
Team
We have developed a team of
engineers that specialize in converting initial designs
into designs more suited to manufacture. They will liaise
with the customer concerning possible design changes
that will achieve a better quality result with a lower
cost of production.
Customers are appointed a
Project Manager from the Manufacturing Engineering Team
that will personally assist the customer in refining
the product design prior to manufacture. The Project
Manager will also walk the customer through the first
production runs of the product to ensure that they are
completely satisfied with the finished product.
