For over 130 years, the name Toowoomba Foundry (renamed Toowoomba Metal Technologies) has had special importance because it reflects the history, development and nucleus of one of Queensland's largest manufacturing companies.

1871 The Toowoomba Foundry commenced business in 1871 when George Washington Griffiths opened an ironmonger's shop in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

A number of years later, a foundry was established and became known as the Toowoomba Foundry, a manufacturer of a diverse range of products including windmills and locomotives.

1874 The beginning of the present Toowoomba Foundry can be traced to the purchase of two acres of land, the site of the present manufacturing facilities.
1875 The first of many models of windmills came off the production line.
1884 The company Toowoomba Foundry and Railway Rolling Stock Manufacturing Company Limited was fully operational. 1891 Purchased Porritt & Co (Reliance Foundry)
1892 By 1893 the Toowoomba Foundry had a range of windmills including 'The Economy", "The Improved Economy", The Simplex", "The Little Wonder" and "The Reliance".
1902 The "Southern Cross" windmill was designed and manufactured.
1939 Documented cases of the company exporting its products.
1960 First SG Iron production.
1964 Commenced contract casting
1987 Installed the George Fisher Automatic Moulding Line.
1988 48% of the family company sold to NCL to finance redevelopment.
1989 NCL 100% ownership
1993 Southern Cross trading name and product rights sold.
1998 Toowoomba Foundry (as part of the NCL group) was acquired by Austrim Limited.
1998 First manufactured volume components using ADI technology.
1998 Toowoomba Wheel Products launched. First major range of products presented to the market since the ISO pump.
1999 "Malco Truck and Trailer" was acquired expanding the range of wheel products.
2000 Robotics Automation of heavy transport machining and assembly cell
2001 Renamed Toowoomba Metal Technologies
2002 2nd robotic brakedrum cell installed
2002 TMT becomes a division of CMI Operations Pty.Ltd.
